Colorado Winter Décor (Not Only for the Holidays)

When decorating your Colorado home, winter design elements can carry throughout the year! With a simple base and strategic pieces, you can easily incorporate Colorado inspired decor perfect for the holidays and beyond.

Neutral Base

There’s a good reason many designers advise homeowners to keep large pieces classic and neutral. Having a neutral base makes it easier to swap out accessories and colors based on the season. Choose a cool color palette or vibrant hot colors for summer. When the white winter season hits, you can easily swap for warmer and cozier tones. Think golds, pumpkins, coppers, warm oranges, rich royals, purples, and even chocolates.

Arrange Furniture

As temperatures dip, arrange your furniture to face a fireplace or the center of the room. This arrangement can create a natural gathering spot and improve feng shui in the room. To make your furniture feel extra cozy, add pillows and throw blankets in lushious fabric like faux fur, wool, velvet, cashmere, or down.

Upgrade your Fireplace

Consider upgrading or updating an old fireplace.  If you don’t want to mess with burning logs, try large pine scented candles or gel fuels which burn for a couple of hours and have crackle sounds. Even a small flame can make a space feel warmer.

Soft Surfaces

Layer area rugs to add to plushness and coziness underfoot. Rugs can also help keep the temperature up so your room actually feels warmer. Add drapery to cut out drafts, but open up to let sunlight in during the day.

Colorado Decor

Check out Colorado antique stores for vintage skis, snowshoes, ice skates, or sleds to use as wall décor. Winter sports equipment is a simple way to add a touch of Colorado flair. Consider using natrual elements, like aspen logs or pine cones, to create simple centerpieces or mantel decoration.
