The Best Denver Neighborhoods For Those 50+

Colorado – especially the Denver Metro area – is a hotspot for the 50+ community. With access to great restaurants, theatre and cultural events, not to mention beautiful golf courses, many Denver neighborhoods truly have it all. But what are the top neighborhoods to consider if you fall into the 50+ category? We asked our 18,000 real estate professionals to weigh in. Here’s what they said.

Neighborhoods you Like

The ones they like! There are fantastic lifestyle-centric ‘hoods all around the metro. Urban, rural, walkable…amenities and services speak more to the individual than their age.

Fit the Individual

That really depends on the person. There are some neighborhoods that are 55+ where in the HOA fee, yards are included as well as a golf course. Heritage Ben in Aurora, there is a Heritage in Thornton, and one in Green Valley Ranch. I’m over 50 and I prefer to live right in the city as it is easy to get around with public transportation and restaurants right out my door!

Windsor Gardens and Green Mountain

Windsor Gardens if you are looking for ease but Green Mountain in Lakewood if you want to enjoy all the perks of CO mountains and scenery with easy access to the city!

Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch. It has several retirement and assisted living facilities, lots of patio and low maintenance homes, golf courses, walking trails and the HOA has many senior activities. You can also live close to grandchildren as the schools in this district are great.

Compare to Where you Live Now

To lump the “over 50 crowd” into one demographic group is a mistake that too many realtors make. True, there are plenty of 50+ folks that enjoy a game of golf and a home in a quiet community. But there are just as many that are more interested in access to good restaurants, theater and cultural events or to hiking/biking trails (or both!) A more appropriate question to ask a 50+ buyer might be: Compared to where you live now, what do you want more of? What do you want less of? That’s the way to find the best Denver neighborhood for the next chapter of your life.
